Let’s admit it, life is like a constant current, always moving and changing. So we crave routine to make our lives have meaning and purpose, we are working towards a bigger picture. For some this is simply to have a good paying job, a comfortable home and happy family. For others they need adventure in their daily lives and must have some kind of spontaneity in their day. Take a friend I know he is the main breadwinner and has a stressful and demanding  job, he does it so on his time off he can climb mountains and go cross country by motorbike. All the while his wife stays home with the children and he conquers different continents. He loves the escape and freedom this provides and then he comes home to his loving family. He is doing what he needs to do to keep his life in balance. We evolve in different ways; this friend pushes his personal limits on his holidays and comes back refreshed. I on the other hand, enjoy watching movies based on true stories, and I learn about ano...

The most important relationship you have is the one you have with yourself.  The quality of the relationship that you have with yourself will determine the quality of relationship that you have with other areas of your life i.e. health, finances, relationships, career, emotions and spirituality.   It is vital therefore that you be a ‘best friend’ to yourself. Being a ‘best friend’ to yourself allows you to receive goodness in your life.   When we have a poor relationship with ourselves and we don’t feel good about the person we are, we choose behaviours that self-sabotage and ‘shut the gates’ to happiness and success entering our life.   So, what are some ways that you can proactively nourish the relationship that you have with yourself. The following are some suggestions.   Love Who You Are   Be happy with and love the person that you are. Remind yourself and focus daily on your positive qualities, strengths, achievements and positive comments ...

Ever thought of changing your focus from managing time to managing energy? Here’s the good news if you dare to go there. Forget time, it’s all about energy! In our increasingly fast-paced and pressured lives, we crave more time and energy, making them both among the most in-demand commodities of the 21st century. We are all familiar with the clever concepts of buying time; but can we actually buy energy? The answer is, of course, ‘no’ though we do note society’s attempts in the purchasing of energy drinks, energy bars, or our embracing of the notion to increase energy through meditation, yoga or exercise. However, this is clearly not sustaining enough, as most people are still craving energy despite these hard-earned efforts to increase it. Why is this so? If we understand that time is outside of ourselves and energy is within us all, we begin to understand that energy is actually our currency for living and being. After all, without energy we can’t perform or do anything really, ev...

I was reminded once again how important it is to be dedicated to your health, when health fails us we are reminded how delicate we can be. During these times we also realise that taking our health for granted is not going to help us in the long term. In fact if we neglect any part of our lives we most likely pay with pain until we can get it sorted and back into a positive balance.   As my yoga teacher said recently “mastery of anything takes time and dedication" how true is that? All the great discoveries of our time followed this thinking, Thomas Edison was a master at perseverance and dedication, and he kept going until he reached his goal of producing a practical light blub which lasted for 40 hours.   So mastery is the journey so you need to keep at it until you get really good at it, just see sports-people who keep practising day in day out, or musicians who just keep playing their instrument so they can achieve self mastery. There is no quick fix; just do the tim...

This topic comes up a lot for me lately, so I thought it would be appropriate to share my learnings and insights so you can gain some awareness and perhaps some new way of thinking. Just now I had a client cancel her first coaching session, interesting as yesterday she sounded like she wanted to talk about her relationship issues. After all she made the first step to book a coach, so from that act she was searching for help. Today it was a different story; she did not answer her phone on our designated appointment time. People want change then they bury their head in the sand. That is the way I see it, if you reach out for support and the hand is out extend for you then you must take it. This is the way forward. If you hesitate and pretend the issue is no longer, well who are you trying to convince? Facing your fears of the unknown or your simple truth needs to be faced. No matter how much hurt we feel and confusion about our affairs, if you want to move forward then you must acknowl...

I was reading the body & soul section in the Sunday Telegraph and read an article on beating depression naturally. This inspired me to write our own 10 Tips on beating the blues. It is easy to feel down and lethargic during times when things are not going to our plan. Life has a way of throwing unexpected turns and no matter how much we want control we just need to let go. Simple things can become huge in our minds and we become self-absorbed and stuck. Here are some tips on beating this state of mind.   1.   Stress Management: Studies have linked stress to multiple conditions and if you are feeling down, then minimize your stress levels. Hormones we excrete during periods of stress interfere with our brain chemistry and lead to sleep disturbance. So address this area(s) in your life to improve your state of mind. Work smarter not harder, this will help you reduce your stress and achieve more balance in your life.   2.   Exercise: When we exercis...

“I’m calling a time out on you and it’s for your own good.” We need to have regular time outs in our life. I suggest that you make it a priority! Time out allows us to rest, relax, heal, gain perspective, clear our thoughts, discover answers to our problems, release stress etc. Now you can see why it is so important. So why do many people neglect to do it? I think that society has conditioned us to think that ‘busy’ is good. People have become proud of being busy and view it as a measure of success. It is as if the busier we are the more successful we apparently are. This type of conditioning has fooled us in to believing that being productive is all about doing things. Well I believe that taking time out is extremely productive. As Billy Joel said “There are times when we need to let the field lie fallow.” Taking some time out for ourselves allows us to rejuvenate and harvest better results for our future. We become more productive and effective thanks to the rest and ...

Watching the MasterChef series on TV, I became more aware of how cooks need to do many tasks at the same time. Doing sauce reductions, sautéing onions, cooking vegetables preparing desserts whilst having a dish in the oven. They would have multiple pots and pans on heat, and juggling priorities so they could complete their challenge on time. To a lesser extent we also work in the same fashion, we have many tasks on the go, we are heating one dish and reading the recipe of another and hoping the one coming out of the oven is cooked and delicious. We have high expectations of ourselves and expect to perform every time, no excuses. Wherever we are in a corporate job, self-employed or in home duties we push ourselves and seek that inner-madness. The day is just too short especially if we need to ‘out-do’ our performance from the day before. We are forever raising the bar and each day we start from the starting-block ready to out perform, to marvel and excite and to create that perfect day...

I learnt something new yesterday at a small business seminar and I wanted to share this with our members at Click A Life Coach. Did you know that the Australian coat of arms has two native animals the emu and the kangaroo? Well and did you know that these two animals cannot walk backwards? Yes that is right they move forward, powerful isn’t it. In life we tend to walk sideways and backwards and how often do we commit to just walking forward no matter what! I found this new knowledge profound as we humans just take it for granted that we can do so much more and yet many spend a life time wondering what they could have done differently.   We replay our past in minute details and project into the future that we forget about the essence of now. Time is a non renewable resource it just goes and we do not get it back. That is why when you get older you want to stop the biological clock and do whatever it takes to get those years back. Well I am here to tell you that you need to ...

As I was cleaning the bathroom I usually wipe the sink, tub followed by the toilet. The shower gets done when I am in there, one of my habits I guess. Yesterday what I noticed was the tiles surrounding the toilet, they were dirty and surprisingly I had not noticed this before. The thought occurred to me that I was just focusing on the usual areas and just going about it in an automatic kind of way. In life how often do we run this similar program? Just do as we always do and not change anything? When we are on the path of continual self-improvement we are forced to reassess and look outside our ‘usual areas’. Our environment changes and we begin to expand our awareness. That is what I got yesterday whilst cleaning, expanded awareness and glad I was able to see the difference and do something about it. Then we see new things in our consciousness we can improve our situation whatever that is. This applies to anything in life, career, relationships, self love, health, finances and so o...
