This last month has really been different, it is the first time in my life that I have really felt this way, so much has changed. My role as a mother has given me this new-ness feeling and how natural it all feels, like I have done this for a while now. It has been just a few days shy of 4 weeks since our baby girl joined our family and the emotions are still running high. It is a privilege being her carer her teacher and her guide in life. When we grow we naturally give to others and this adds to our sense of self in such an unselfish way. We are serving others and we seek connection and contribution. I am sure many parents feel this way. You do not know how life changes until you have children. How true a statement. I had heard it so many times that I was waiting for the moment where I could say ‘yes that is when it happened’. For me it was right after birth. Our baby was real and here, and she needed protection, love, food and comfort. Children are a gift and we as parents are ther...

You would have noticed that we are running behind this month with our articles and newsletter. Well this had a good reason. My wonderful wife and Principal Coach at Click A Life Coach, has given birth to our first child, a beautiful baby girl called Alexa Luz. This has been a truly amazing experience for both of us and we are still filled with many happy emotions. Just looking at her face makes me almost cry with happiness. We prepared ourselves well for the birth and we wanted to have a birth without much intervention, no pain relief, just a natural calm birth. Alexa was due on the 19th of December, but decided to wait a little longer with her arrival. With Christmas around the corner, we thought we might actually get a “Christkind” with her being born on the 24th . In the lead up to Christmas we decided to buy a turkey just in case, she would wait until after Christmas. And glad we did. We spend a nice Christmas day with family at our place and enjoyed every moment (and every sleep ...

We can get so caught up in our actions and in our future plans that once we achieve our goals we just create new ones. For me I seem to be going up and down and this is life. I guess enjoy the highs and reflect on the lows, however to get yourself up as quickly as possible that is the key. The destination will come; it is all about the journey, the learnings and the insights along the way. This is what makes it all worthwhile what you did to get there. I was reading about another channel nine news reader who finally fell pregnant after 11 attempts of assisted conception (IVF)! What a journey she has had thus far, and I know where she is coming from, we too have been there and it took us 9 attempts! The journey is just that the path to the ultimate prize: motherhood. Our journey has taken us to many places in our hearts and minds, emotionally jam-packed and definitely made us closer as a couple. We have weathered many disappointments and heart-ache and now I am glowing at being six m...

Is it just me or are there pregnant ladies everywhere? In the city, shopping malls, crossing the street, at cafes even at the swimming pool? This is wonderful to see new life beginning and the ladies displaying their beautiful bellies. Even the clothes they wear are flattering, no longer are they wearing granny tops that look like tents, these soon-to-be mums, have hit the fashion stakes and look fit and healthy. Even the clothes stores have more choices now catering for such Romanesque women. It’s a mine field, and naturally then come the baby clothes and baby things. Don’t get me started on that! Can this be an indicator that the economy is doing well and people are realizing their dreams to have a family because the indicators are there? Steady employment, the mining boom, consumer confidence is high. Life seems to giving us these signals that new life is now welcomed, and thus the abundance. We live in a great city, Sydney has so much to offer those seeking, balance, variety, car...

I heard the other day in my yoga class about how we hold onto emotions and they are stored in our bodies, in particular our hips. Made me think about my tight hips and what is going on for me. A whole range of emotions poured out as I had been layering them in, one at a time, thus my hips got tighter and less mobile. On the outside I look healthy and I can still dance salsa, however on the inside I knew my hips were crying to just ‘let go’ of all the residual punishment I had subjected them too, my emotional rollercoaster. Going through the IVF program is like climbing a mountain, or running a marathon, never ending and full of surprises and disappointments. Your life evolves around the calendar, dates, blood tests and ultra sounds. You place everything else on hold and you prioritize your life. I have been on the journey for two years and yes it is emotional. Combine this with my Latin blood and it is almost a deadly combination! I am glad that now I laugh about it, distant from my ...

Most big cities have them; they can frustrate you, make you angry and rushed and above all make you late. Traffic jams or bottlenecks, in French they say “bouchon” which translates to: cork in bottle. Imagine that is exactly how it feels being in one waiting for it to die down, to dissipate, after the tension has been building. So you can move again. You hear the horn and it makes your tension rise, you look at the time and wonder how long is this going to take. Some people get creative and sometimes you can see women putting their face on (make up on), reading the paper. I even saw someone brushing their teeth in traffic, and one man giving himself a shave with one hand and driving the car with his other hand! That is because we cannot just sit there idle in traffic; we need to use our precious time doing something! Our bodies also create blockages, thus our systems can be jammed up with tension, stress and anxiety. Your body knows when its’ stressed and it reacts according...
