Most people are conscious of the negative consequences of feeding into their body unhealthy foods.   The question I would ask you is “What are the effects of what you have been and are currently feeding into your mind?”   What you feed into your mind will determine what you manifest in your life. A metaphor for this is what a computer programmer codes into computer software will determine the output of what we see on the computer screen.   Similarly what we code into our mind through our thoughts, language (self-talk & verbal) and beliefs will determine what we see, hear, think and experience in our lives.   There is an axiom “Garbage in garbage out”. Are you feeding garbage thoughts, language and beliefs into your mind? e.g. “I can’t do it”, “I am not good enough”, “I am not attractive”, “Others are better than me”, “There is something wrong with me”, “I will never be successful” etc. If you are you will find that areas of your life will start to ‘stink’. These...

Patterns are things that we do on a consistent basis and are done at an unconscious level.   Your patterns of thoughts, language and behaviour will determine the quality of your life and the results that you achieve.   Many of your patterns have come about from influences and experiences from your environment.   Hopefully the environments you have been exposed to have led you to develop healthy patterns.   Unfortunately though there may be patterns that you are following that may not be serving you well in your life.   It is critical to identify any patterns that are not serving you and to interrupt them.   If you are not experiencing the results that you want in various areas of your life an examination of the patterns creating these results is necessary. You will find that a pattern of thoughts, language or behaviour is not allowing you to experience what you desire. Continuing to follow these patterns will lead to the same results occurring ...

We have the council ‘dump your rubbish’ pick up soon and as I see the collection of people’s junk on the pavement, I am reminded of how much stuff we hoard and carry. It is easy to dump it on the lawn and wait for someone else to clear it. After all we use ‘stuff’ and then get tired of it, bored with it or we break it, so we discard it. It is easy. Then we purchase a replacement and the cycle begins again, that is consumerism I guess. Mentally we also carry stuff, wouldn’t it be great to do the same with ‘mental stuff’ we carry, to simply just dump it somewhere to be transported somewhere else.  Well with life coaching we can, we just need to own our own issues and know that what no longer serves us needs to be replaced with more positive and useful thinking. See it this way, why carry issues/stuff from the past that does not serve you any longer, just adds to your concerns and your emotional baggage. Sure we do not forget, but isn’t it better to simply let go of it so we...

A new year signifies a brand new start, and so with getting on with living and pursuing happiness we find ourselves on a very personal quest. I know many clients who years ago came to me for whatever reason, are in a totally different place now. Many are living their ideal life, they are enjoying those moments and live in the now. Many are also pushing their boundaries and learning more about letting go and being their authentic self. Coaching does that to people, makes them really look at their life and what needs to change so they can align themselves with their true values and belief systems. Life is in a constant state of influx, and so is the way we live, one day you can predict everything that will happen and have full control. Yet on another day you will feel like life has ‘done’ something to you and you are in reactive mode. Take the recent floods in Queensland for example, human nature does not discriminate, this can happen to anybody, so if you are in a natural di...

Just when you think you have it all planned out and you have some kind of routine and certainty, life throws you a curve ball, and you obviously did not see it coming. Well that is what life just dished out to us this week, with only 3 weeks left of this year we have received our eviction notice in our current home. Firstly we were in a state of shock and disbelief how someone can do this to us, especially so close to Christmas, our daughters’ birthday and my pending birth.  Obviously they have their reasons. Now a few days later we are in action mode, turning this dilemma into a positive, we need to in order to find the right home for us.  Otherwise we stay in victim-mode and play the blame game; this does not serve any purpose. Life does this to people and in the state of flux we find more inner strength and resources and get ready for the new. When you have moved home constantly all your life, this is just another move, that is my life and since being married (that is 6 y...

You would need to be living like a hermit not to have heard about the 33 rescued Chilean Miners. This story is a true story of survival and endurance, a personal test for each miner trapped 650meters below. When I first heard of their fate, we were visiting my parents in Chile, and like most people you feared the worst, waiting for the bodies to be recovered, especially as the days rolled into weeks. Then just as we were coming back home to Australia, word got out that in fact they had all survived 17 days buried down below. This was amazing, sure they had lost weight and mentally some were not as strong as others. Now the biggest question was the rescue. As many would know they all surfaced safely to the fresh air a few days ago, to their families and the world media. This story has moved many, including me. As the human spirit is tested on many levels: physically, mentally and spiritually. How each person endures this test is a very personal triumph and journey that only they can te...

Well we are at the end of our second week here in Chile and it seems that we have been here for a longer time. We have done so much already, covered many kms sightseeing, taking over 200 photos and have eaten our way through many restaurants, cafes and naturally enjoyed home-cooked meals. Yes holidays are made of this. When you relax mentally your body also relaxes and some people get sick as their immune system also relaxes. Well that was the first 10 days for the 3 of us; it was bound to happen with the temperature change plus the time zone difference. Holidays have that impact on you I guess, now I am in a better place and can take in the atmosphere of this sleepy little village. We are about 2 hours drive from the capital on the coast. Nice place to unwind and watch the seagulls up above. Remember that even though it is a holiday, anything can happen and being flexible is the key that is my lesson I take from this trip and share with you. When you are easy-going things w...

A fellow colleague told me the story about a training organization that is not functioning very well. They are not paying their employees on time and have very little internal communication. Needless to say they are not working as effectively and the morale is at an all time low. This obviously affects their service delivery as staff do not feel valued and also impacts direct business. Their enrollments for courses and workshops are struggling to fill up. The energy is negative and thus so is the results that they are getting. From an outsider’s perspective I ask " if you do not have integrity and value towards your employees how can you attract new business and retain good working relationships with your clients?". As I often say, if you work on the internal and get this right then the external will match this, as you become congruent with your environment and you begin to attract opportunities and meet the right people that will help you on your journey. As a coach, ...

Keeping a relationship sweet with a spouse or partner over the years can often be pretty challenging. The same can also be said of business relationships. Put the two together and WOW! The concept of 'relationship skills' will take on a whole different meaning! Having lived and worked together with my husband for over 20 years, both in a  home office and away from home premises. Needless to say there have been “moments”, while we’ve learned a lot about how to run a micro business together, we've also found ways to keep our personal relationship interesting and romantic. Here are some of the strategies we have developed: • Keep the space between you clean with regular WIFLS (What I feel like saying).  Often before we go to bed at night, or even during the day if one of us can feel some tension, we ask, “Have you any WIFLS”.  This can quickly handle any misunderstandings over something the other has said or done that we disagree with or are upset about.  It ...

Just reading the news about this volcano causing such an impact on multiple levels makes me realize that sometimes you have No control over some plans you made so long ago. Who can anticipate the eruption of a volcano high north of the European continent would impact people as far as Australia? Well it does, people wanting to fly to Europe, all flights suspended. Not since WW2 has there been such a standstill of international flights. This puts many plans into jeopardy, which prompts the need to think about contingency and your plan B. Perhaps when you plan something think about the alternative just in case, yet again this is not really practical as you then need to think about when things go wrong. And if you have done any personal development and the law of attraction this is not a good idea as you are entertaining the thought of disaster and your plans falling through. We want to be in a positive state and feel that it will come to fruition  that is what we need to feel and ...
