It is beneficial and valuable to take regular time-out of our busy lifestyles for reflection. Reflection allows us an opportunity to evaluate our lives and ourselves. Find a peaceful location that is free from distractions and be still so that you can reflect on yourself and areas of your life. During this reflection time ask yourself some important questions and then wait for your inner-guidance to provide you with the answers. Below are some suggestions. What am I doing in my life that is serving me well and that I need to continue doing? What areas of my life and myself can I improve and how can I improve them? What do I need to let go of so that I can experience more of what I want in my life? What patterns of thoughts and behaviours do I need to change and how am I going to do that? What am I learning and how can I apply my learnings to achieve better results in my life? What specific actions do I need to take in my life to be happier? How can I experience more enjoy...

Many people are searching; for a better life, more opportunities, war-free living, work-life balance, career progression, relationship harmony, creating a family and lots of holidays and fun. Yet this becomes the goal = once attaining this happiness will arrive. Well I am here to tell you that this may not be the case, happiness doesn’t come magically at the end of your journey, happiness is part of the path. You need to be ready to find joy and happiness will just appear as you have created the space in your life. Many yogis will say that once you open your heart, happiness can come in, if you remain closed and cynical happiness has no place, you are too busy with other energies. I remember earlier in my quest to find my soul mate, I thought that I would just know which would be THE ONE, and gave myself so easily to the notion of love and connection, thinking that happiness would follow. This journey took me several years to decipher that this wasn’t necessarily the case. I needed to...

The most important relationship you have is the one you have with yourself.  The quality of the relationship that you have with yourself will determine the quality of relationship that you have with other areas of your life i.e. health, finances, relationships, career, emotions and spirituality.   It is vital therefore that you be a ‘best friend’ to yourself. Being a ‘best friend’ to yourself allows you to receive goodness in your life.   When we have a poor relationship with ourselves and we don’t feel good about the person we are, we choose behaviours that self-sabotage and ‘shut the gates’ to happiness and success entering our life.   So, what are some ways that you can proactively nourish the relationship that you have with yourself. The following are some suggestions.   Love Who You Are   Be happy with and love the person that you are. Remind yourself and focus daily on your positive qualities, strengths, achievements and positive comments ...

Tomorrow we are attending a funeral, someone I knew for a long time, he succummed to cancer and naturally his passing makes me stop and think about what life means to people. As a coach I sincerely believe that we get one chance to live authentically, this life. Whatever you believe in faith-wise I get that however for me it is THIS life that matters. You live according to what is the important to you, share time with people you really care about and indulge in the pleasures that make you feel wonderful and special. The gentleman who passed away had a simple yet rewarding life he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, his partner and he loved the horse races. I will remember him always having a radio ear piece stuck in his ear attentively listening to the current race. This was his absolute passion. Glad he got to enjoy it so much. That is why it is never too late to really go for it, if you have a fear of something and wonder what it would be like, then you are preventing...

Well we are at the end of our second week here in Chile and it seems that we have been here for a longer time. We have done so much already, covered many kms sightseeing, taking over 200 photos and have eaten our way through many restaurants, cafes and naturally enjoyed home-cooked meals. Yes holidays are made of this. When you relax mentally your body also relaxes and some people get sick as their immune system also relaxes. Well that was the first 10 days for the 3 of us; it was bound to happen with the temperature change plus the time zone difference. Holidays have that impact on you I guess, now I am in a better place and can take in the atmosphere of this sleepy little village. We are about 2 hours drive from the capital on the coast. Nice place to unwind and watch the seagulls up above. Remember that even though it is a holiday, anything can happen and being flexible is the key that is my lesson I take from this trip and share with you. When you are easy-going things w...

Once again I am reminded how fortunate I am, all I see around me is love, connection, sincerity, authenticity, integrity and humility. Yet lately as I have been stuck by the winter cold, I am down and thus my body is showing me pain. If I only look at the bigger picture I have so much to be grateful for and this article is a dedication to those in my life who make me smile and make me the person I am today. So firstly those people who put up with me every day, thanks for your patience and your strength. You make me want to be a better person every day so I can be the best role model for you. Alexa you are my reason. Thomas you are my love. To my dearest sister, we may not touch base every week, yet you are in my warmest thoughts and I wish you all the best in every little adventure you take. I love you. My parents who I speak to practically every day, I may not hug you each day, but with the internet we are closer and I cannot wait to hug you for real in a few days time. You are the...

Let go so that you can be free like a butterfly. When you let go it allows you the freedom to live the life that you want. You need to let go of things that are keeping you stuck and not allowing you to move forward towards what you desire in your life. So, what are some of the things that you may need to let go of in order for you to be free to live the life that you want. The Past: Don’t allow past experiences to rule the rest of your life. Learn from them and apply the learning to create a better life for you. Living in the past will take energy and focus away from the action you need to take in the present to achieve the results that you want in your future. Fear: Fear stops us from taking action that can improve our life. Rather than focus on the fear of taking action focus on the benefits that taking action will bring into your life. Be driven by the benefits. The Need to Please Everyone: Don’t live your life for everyone else. It is important that you respect and satisfy y...

As Easter is just around the corner, I am reminded about all the surplus junk that keeps on growing in the garage and this is the perfect time to clean out the mess and de-clutter. Interesting we are not alone according to a report by the Australian Institute entitled Stuff Happens: Unused Things Cluttering Up our Homes, 88 per cent of Australian homes has at least one room full of trash-slash-treasure. And also interesting is that four out of ten Australians find themselves feeling anxious, guilty or depressed about the amount of disorder in their homes sometimes going to extraordinary lengths to deal with it. Like moving house, adding rooms, even purchasing more stuff like storage containers to accommodate the things that were brought and never used. People who horde stuff everywhere in their home and in some chronic cases they have surrounded themselves with stuff that they only see the passage to the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Amazing to even phantom such a state! It is not ju...

When we keep things inside that bother us, we tend to ruminate about the finer details and how it makes us feel. This can lead to feeling inadequate, unsupported, misunderstood, unloved and if you find yourself maintaining a straight face that shows to the world that you are ‘ fine’ and ‘ok’ then this article is for you! You see if you do not air your issues, you just keep burying them into the depth of your being you will generate dis-ease in your body. Especially if this is your way of coping with the knocks of life and being in relationships. Not one relationship is smooth sailing, (unless one is in full control and the other is compliant). Better I make myself clear: No one healthy relationship is smooth sailing. They all require work, love, attention, communication, trust and respect. So if you are just keeping it bottled in then you will eventually have to explode to let the air out! If you come to this explosive end, you may likely completely loose it and then suffer the c...

Like a child on a car trip, I find myself thinking ‘Are we there yet?’  Ok I know patience is not one of my strong points, anybody that knows me will contest to that. Yet it is 2010 and somehow it feels like we are living in sci-fi age, and if that is the case then why do we still find ourselves waiting? We should have arrived by now.. Arrived to the age of awareness and understanding Arrived full circle to our realization that less is in fact more Noticed that there are some people born lucky and then there are the rest of them Being completely present in the moment and not daydreaming of the past or future Noticing that we can live simply and be authentically happy Questioning why we eat certain foods when we are feeling emotional in any way Making a connection with no hidden agenda Yes I can relate to most of those things, living simply and living consciously. It takes work to keep it simple and to really be present. For example being a p...
