Today I felt a bit lost and lonely, we had family and friends around us since mid October and yesterday we all headed off to the airport to bid them farewell. My in-laws had become so integrated into our routines that I felt vacant and sad all day, the low lying clouds adding to this mood. Strange you get so used to having people around, interacting, sharing stories and having their energy fill your home. We all enjoyed their company especially their 11 month grand-daughter she was so happy to play, get taken out for walks, and to hang out with her oma and opa. I enjoyed the break, to do other duties and to write uninterrupted, it was bliss. Having love and connection fills your heart and makes you realize that it is not just about you, you are part of a tribe that share common interests and take care of children together. There is something to be said about sharing the gearing of children, having the extended family close by and having conversations that matter. I know in my cultur...

Sometimes change is thrown at us and we need to react, quickly. I clearly remember the time we had just settled in our new apartment, our lives were going well and we had an overseas trip organized. Perfect no surprises then one day we get a letter from our rental agency giving us notice to move as the landlord was wanting to move back in! We had only a few weeks to do all this in as we had committed to our overseas trip and paid for the flights. Two short weeks, needless to say the feeling of madness was upon us alright. Change here we come… In life we often get turbulence during our perfect flight. In moments like these we need to practice behavioral flexibility and remain calm. Easier said than done for an organized Arian who needs control and planning! After the initial shock we calmed down and got into action mode, it was all going to work out that was our mind-set and we had a clear picture of what needed to happen with Swiss precision. Change moves you into a new reality, so y...

As the sun sets for another day, I marvel at the colors and how unique each sunset is, none are exactly the same with the cloud cover and light diminishing you get the feeling that the moment will last forever, just as it is about to disappear the crescendo hits. It is absolutely beautiful. It is easy to live each day, one at a time and just be. There is security in routine and there are no surprises. Yet we do need to move forward, otherwise we stop growing personally and professionally. That is the paradox, you stay the same you loose, you change something you are taking risks, becoming vulnerable and there are no guarantees. So you may loose there too. So when is it a good time to change? That is the magic question, with taking risks you are out on a limb, that is true and you may also feel: • Vulnerable • On your own • Nervous • Insecure • Anxious • Apprehensive You are on a new path and this leads you to the unknown these emotions are just temporary ...

It is easy to focus on what we don’t have, as we set goals we are working towards obtaining new experiences as we have yet to have this in our reality. I used to be like this when I was single all I thought about was being in a relationship and focusing on what was missing in my life, I compared myself to others who in my opinion seemed to have it all, loving partner, children, lovely home and all the trimmings. Yes I know this was not very positive on my behalf and this did not bring it closer to me, I just saw the ‘lack’ in my life my inadequacies and short-comings. No wonder my confidence levels were at an all time low. With this mind-set how was I going to attract my life partner and turn my life around? Many people today live this reality they just keep wishing and hope things will improve without changing their thought processes. Time to upgrade your attitude and feel rich and fulfilled in your current reality. Simply feel grateful for what you already have in your life, start ...

I am inspired to write about moving on from the old to the new, as I am surrounded by boxes and see empty shelves and what is still left to do. You see we shall move home this Friday to our new bigger place and I have mixed emotions. Excited about the novelty, the new surroundings, exploring local parks, shops and making new connections. On the other hand right now we are a stones’ throw away from all the shops and a quick walk to the beach. Plus in this home we became a family and such wonderful memories of bringing our baby home, changing the apartment to suit our little princess. Alas they are all wonderful memories. So when we move from the old to the new we can be apprehensive as we need to let go of our routine and what we know, this makes place for the new and the growth. You can relate this to not just a physical move you can also apply this to relationships, career, health issues and any personal development. You move on and get on with exploring your boundaries If you are i...

During my usual Thursday night yoga class I was inspired. Paul the teacher gives a great class and often has many words of wisdom, this night he spoke about the spaces between words, which:  gives the meaning as otherwise words would just ramble one after the other without pause. How can the space have meaning? I thought. Well for me this has more than a literal meaning as with anything that touches me these days I see a deeper perspective. When we pause we are, we are still in that moment and we learn. If we do not take that pause/break/space then we just do and what is the meaning or purpose for doing that? Surely the space gives us reflection Perspective Time to absorb To ask WHY? To reason and ponder To collect our thoughts and appreciate the now So for me the space is vital in everyday living, to really be in that moment whatever that is and to engage 100 percent in that activity. The space also allows us to feel liberated as we are not cluttered in our thoughts and i...

I was reading the Sunday paper, it’s our ritual on a lazy Sunday morning, and I came across an article that really highlighted some areas that many of my clients have issues with and to be completely honest with you we too to some degree.  People who horde stuff everywhere in their home and in some chronic cases they have surrounded themselves with stuff that they only see the passage to the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Amazing to even phantom such a state! Well we are not alone, according to a report by the Australian Institute entitled Stuff Happens: Unused Things Cluttering Up our Homes, 88 per cent of Australian homes have at least one room full of trash-slash-treasure. And also interesting is that four out of ten Australians find themselves feeling anxious, guilty or depressed about the amount of disorder in their homes sometimes going to extraordinary lengths to deal with it. Like moving house, adding rooms, even purchasing more stuff like storage containers to accommodate...

I learnt something new yesterday at a small business seminar and I wanted to share this with our members at Click A Life Coach. Did you know that the Australian coat of arms has two native animals the emu and the kangaroo? Well and did you know that these two animals cannot walk backwards? Yes that is right they move forward, powerful isn’t it. In life we tend to walk sideways and backwards and how often do we commit to just walking forward no matter what! I found this new knowledge profound as we humans just take it for granted that we can do so much more and yet many spend a life time wondering what they could have done differently.   We replay our past in minute details and project into the future that we forget about the essence of now. Time is a non renewable resource it just goes and we do not get it back. That is why when you get older you want to stop the biological clock and do whatever it takes to get those years back. Well I am here to tell you that you need to ...

Each day we hear on the news the crisis that planet Earth is facing… ozone depletion, climate change, pollution, lack of natural resources. I often like to look at the aspect that we as coaches learn early on in our studies, which is what we experience in our external world is only a reflection of what is internal for us: what we think, what we feel, what we choose and how we choose to experience our life. This recently led me to ponder… if what we experience outside of ourselves is a reflection of who and what we are internally, then could the state of the planet’s health at present, just be a reflection of how many of us in this human experience are living an unhealthy & polluted existence – ego driven, material driven and ‘me’ driven? We can only experience outside of ourselves what is inside of ourselves, and with the generation we have now, we are predominantly a generation of me, me, me/self, self, self. For a lot of us we are driven by ego and what we can have. It can oft...

In this changing economic climate we may be faced with options that previously we did not entertain. In life there are always surprises and it is how we navigate through these turbulent times that we can get clearer on our purpose and our chosen career. If your position is being made redundant, then see this as a window of opportunities. Here are some tips to get you thinking about your options. Going back to your old company as a consultant Sometimes there is an option to continue working in the same company as a consultant. Naturally you are keen to go back and work under these new conditions. Ensure you are charging appropriately as now you have to manage your own insurances and superannuation. You can make more money this way as it gives you the flexibility to charge more per hour for your specialised skills. In addition you can find other contracts with other companies if you so wish as you are not tied to your previous employer. You are leveraging of your time t...
