You would have noticed that we are running behind this month with our articles and newsletter. Well this had a good reason. My wonderful wife and Principal Coach at Click A Life Coach, has given birth to our first child, a beautiful baby girl called Alexa Luz. This has been a truly amazing experience for both of us and we are still filled with many happy emotions. Just looking at her face makes me almost cry with happiness. We prepared ourselves well for the birth and we wanted to have a birth without much intervention, no pain relief, just a natural calm birth. Alexa was due on the 19th of December, but decided to wait a little longer with her arrival. With Christmas around the corner, we thought we might actually get a “Christkind” with her being born on the 24th . In the lead up to Christmas we decided to buy a turkey just in case, she would wait until after Christmas. And glad we did. We spend a nice Christmas day with family at our place and enjoyed every moment (and every sleep ...

A recruiter told me the other day about a young girl (degree qualified) who had been at her job for three weeks, was asked to make tea for the boss, got the cranks, and quit! Sounds ridiculous, and just a little extreme, but would this occur at your work? If the answer is yes, then pay attention: Its reasonable to say that Generation Y in the workplace can be just a little cocky, impatient and often have short attention spans. Anyone who manages or leads these young people may find themselves struggling to keep up with their pace (ie having to constantly find work for them to do) and may also become frustrated at having someone constantly questioning your decisions. Yet at the same time, Generation Y can be very passionate about a cause, adapt easily to change and are willing to embrace new technologies. Gen Y are prepared to go out on a limb and take risks and more importantly, they believe in themselves to achieve results. So what do you do to make the most of your talent? ...

If you’re anything like me, you’re probably swamped with numerous things to do, all pulling you in different directions and all demanding your immediate attention. Thing is, we so often get caught up in doing the small things, or the more enjoyable things, that before we know it, time has passed us by and that big task that you say you’ll keep getting to tomorrow, still isn’t done! 2008 is drawing to an end so now’s the time to stop … take a deep breath … and jump right in! If you’re finding everything a little too overwhelming then make sure you take some time out each day (even if its only for 30mins) to just relax and recharge your mind. If its that you really can’t get motivated to do it, then change the environment you’re doing it in, alter the process or bring someone else on board to keep you company. Your time is valuable – make sure you like how you spend it. If your task is still too daunting, then look at it in a new way… We’ve all heard many times before that we need t...

Have you ever wanted something so much that it doesn’t come or doesn’t happen. You’ve done everything you can think of to get this “thing”, you’ve been constantly thinking about having it and yet its still not coming your way… In desperation you finally reach frustration point and “give up”. But then guess what happens next – you get it! That’s because part of the process of positive thinking involves a certain amount of surrendering. When you’ve believe enough in an outcome and have taken every action to achieve it then you must let it go and have faith that it will occur when its meant to. When I talk about faith I’m not referring to a particular religion per se. You could be surrendering to God, Buddha, Allah or the Universe. Whatever external source you believe in is absolutely perfect, it’s the action of belief that is important, not the subject. A mentor of mine once said to me that surrendering your belief is like hot chips and seagulls. If you chase after a seagull to feed ...

Don’t you just love it when you still learn something new about your partner/husband, even though you’ve been together for so long! The other day I was having a conversation with my other half about friendship and our respective circle of friends (with particular reference to why he regards certain school friends as more “my friends” and not “his friends”.) The fact that we have both known them equally for 15 years doesn’t sway him to my rationale that they are “our friends”. As far as he is concerned his circle is full at the moment... We always say we need to get out of our comfort zone (and he would be the first to agree that that is an area that he could work on) but sometimes we also need to pull back on ourselves and be realistic. His reason for not taking on “more friends” - he can’t even look after the ones he’s got! Why should he stretch himself to the point where he can’t maintain a decent friendship with anyone? I’m using the analogy of friendship for shock value (for the ...

In 2005 I was in pieces. I was shattered by a relationship break down. The path ahead was no longer clear, and I was full of self-doubt. It was at this point that I turned inwards, and my journey of spiritual discovery began. What I found was my Inner Essence through self development. It enabled me to recognise the power and strength at the core of my being. I was able to unlock my hidden potential. Along the way I was assisted by spiritual guides, angels and ascended masters. Shared experiences with friends moulded who I became. Like the caterpillar, after metamorphosis, I emerged a beautiful butterfly. So how can you discover your Inner Essence? I would like to share with you seven techniques which will help you on your own spiritual journey of enlightenment. Revisit painful experiences. Do you feel angry about a relationship break down? Do you resent the promotion of a work colleague? Are you feeling guilty about the way you treated a family member? To move on yo...

Back in April I attended the James Redfield seminar on his Celestine Prophecy books and underlying philosophies. James led us through the story of his life and how he came to be where he is now, his psychology background with troubled kids was fascinating in its own right, however it was his in-depth discussion on the insights that we were all there for. And he did not let us down. Although I’d read the books before it wasn’t until I heard him speak his words that I could truly understand their meanings and the bigger picture of their implications. In addition to the actual insights (below), he raised some very interesting points: What is your truth to tell? If it’s not immediately obvious, make it up. It will evolve to the truth. Ask yourself why you have gone through all of your life’s preparations (look at your friends, family, teachers, jobs, experiences). Wherever you are now is perfect… The way you know you’re on the right path is...

Success holds many different meanings to people. To some it’s equal with being famous and earning lots of money. To others it means helping out others to improve social conditions, achieving excellence in a particular area of life/ career or simply creating something that gives you that warm fuzzy feeling and wells up a beaming smile from cheek to cheek Yet no matter what peoples personal ambition is, there’s a common reason in the traits possessed by all successful individuals. Firstly, they have a dream. Secondly, they believe in themselves. And finally, they’re prepared to work and stick with it when the going gets tough. A theme that keeps repeating itself in successful peoples thinking is the importance of being able to learn from their mistakes. In fact, what separates the winner from the person who also ran in the race, is the achiever’s ability to get up again and again and keep heading for that goal – despite failures and setbacks along the way. Think of a person you believ...

I was adding to our Click A Life Coach - Forum and updating my goals for 2008 when I found myself being hit hard by my own revelation. This year is already flying by and I have found on more than one occasion that I am getting slightly overwhelmed by everything that I have to do. Taking the viewpoint that we are responsible for our own situation, I realised that I have created this mayhem. Taking some much needed time out over the Easter long weekend has made me recognise that I’ve bitten off more than I can chew (sorry for the cheesy cliche). I used to think that if someone needed my help then I had better give it to them (after all, it makes me feel good about myself too). And there’s nothing wrong with this belief system at all (if only there were more helpful people in the world!) The danger comes though from being too helpful. Yes it sounds crazy – but this can occur in two ways:   Saying ‘yes’ to everything that is asked of you Seeking out actions and volunte...

Spirit Guides are people who have passed over into the next life. They have reached a high spiritual level where they are, but still retain an interest in what is going on in the world. They are not like guardian angels who protect us, but are there to help and guide us when we ask for advice. Guides are principally concerned with our spiritual growth and are prepared to help us with it. However, as they want us to be independent and stand on our own two feet, they discourage us from asking for help every time we have a small problem. They prefer to act as mentors, older and wiser, who have already learned the lessons we are so painfully trying to master. Your guides do not offer advice unless you ask for it. That is why some people go through their entire lives without ever realizing that they have spirit guides. Often they have never heard of them, let alone learned how to ask their guides for help. However, even in these cases, their spirit guides will do all they can to help thes...
