Unhealthy Planet Earth – is it all in our minds?

Each day we hear on the news the crisis that planet Earth is facing… ozone depletion, climate change, pollution, lack of natural resources.

I often like to look at the aspect that we as coaches learn early on in our studies, which is what we experience in our external world is only a reflection of what is internal for us: what we think, what we feel, what we choose and how we choose to experience our life.

This recently led me to ponder… if what we experience outside of ourselves is a reflection of who and what we are internally, then could the state of the planet’s health at present, just be a reflection of how many of us in this human experience are living an unhealthy & polluted existence – ego driven, material driven and ‘me’ driven?

We can only experience outside of ourselves what is inside of ourselves, and with the generation we have now, we are predominantly a generation of me, me, me/self, self, self. For a lot of us we are driven by ego and what we can have. It can often be a selfish generation, a disconnected generation. And because we can only experience outside of ourselves what is inside… is this why we are experiencing global change, ozone depletion, pollution, discord among races/religions?

Two generations ago in Australia and other countries, we had a generation that had values relating to serving others. During WWII for example, we had men serving their country, and the women serving the men and the community back home. It was a selfless generation, a more ecological generation as they were working for the good of not only themselves, but for their community and ultimately the greater good of their world. I experienced this generation of servitude first hand by working with the Sydney Legacy war widows for several years. I was amazed at the way they cared and supported each other, the way they willingly gave up their time for volunteer roles, and the way they embraced their spirituality, their connection to a higher power.

More of this generation and generations of past were connected to the God source. More people prayed, went to church/mass, devoted themselves to a higher power. It was more about a God than me, me, me. Was this another reason why the planet was less polluted? Because these people who were committed and connected to a God were less ‘polluted by their own egos’?

These days many people in our society have reversed the be/do/have model. They think what they HAVE, followed by what they DO, will enable them to BE a certain type of person. They think what they HAVE is more valuable and precious than who they need to BE.

What they don’t realize is that it all starts and ends with self. The question to ask yourself is: Who do you need to be, what do you need to do, in order to have?

If more and more people reconnected with the God source, and asked themselves who they need to be and what to they need to do, then they would be less ‘polluted’ within, because ego would be less controlling and they would be governed more by a divine source and coming from a place of servitude.

If we came from a healthier place of selflessness, servitude and connection would we then experience a healthier planet earth? If we can only experience outside ourselves what is already within, how different, greener, cleaner would our planet be?

BEConnected, selfless, serve others, love others
DORespect and love ourselves, therefore respect and love our Planet.
HAVEA healthy, greener planet that serves the human race.
