Clean Up Time

We have the council ‘dump your rubbish’ pick up soon and as I see the collection of people’s junk on the pavement, I am reminded of how much stuff we hoard and carry. It is easy to dump it on the lawn and wait for someone else to clear it. After all we use ‘stuff’ and then get tired of it, bored with it or we break it, so we discard it. It is easy. Then we purchase a replacement and the cycle begins again, that is consumerism I guess.

Mentally we also carry stuff, wouldn’t it be great to do the same with ‘mental stuff’ we carry, to simply just dump it somewhere to be transported somewhere else.  Well with life coaching we can, we just need to own our own issues and know that what no longer serves us needs to be replaced with more positive and useful thinking.

See it this way, why carry issues/stuff from the past that does not serve you any longer, just adds to your concerns and your emotional baggage. Sure we do not forget, but isn’t it better to simply let go of it so we are not feeling the burden anymore? I have a client and he is in this situation, he is trying to make his relationship work and looks back at the past clinging to hope that she will change. This thinking does not move him forward he is stuck in the past, and thus all decisions he makes stay ‘stuck’ as he has placed so much power over it. If he realises this then he can let go and work towards a better future for him and his children.
I look at the junk we have placed outside, boxes, frames that got mouldy in the last rain and plastic that has broken pieces. Yes not much but then again we have moved once per year for the last 6 years and that gives us the perfect opportunity to really clean out our garage.

What can you get rid of?
