Waiting for Something

I had a client a few years back that spent too much time in her head. By that I mean she thought way too much about things and what others thought of her. She also liked to day dream, and contemplate the ‘what-if’ of life and what could be. As if she was waiting for something to come along and decide for her.

Life waits for no body, no matter how rich or how lonely or how confused you are life will just continue in its’ merry way. So the sooner you realise that you want to be an active participant of it then the better your emotional state will be. Which means living mindfully and consciously of each day. Day dreaming just takes you to the past or the future where you are not, and so you delay some important decisions in the now because you are caught up with worst-case scenario thinking. Not a really good move as you are here in the now and need to see and feel what is around you.
So one of those areas we worked on was being mindful of your thoughts, and replacing the negative thoughts with more positive ones. Plus also keeping track of when the day dreams would start so she could contain them to a more realistic time frame. Therefore not interfering with her day and responsibilities. As day dreamers go, they are creative and their imagination can run wild, yet in this practical world day dreamers have a hard time adjusting and being flexible to what the day can bring.
My client worked on being truly present and in during our coaching sessions she became more focused on what she really wanted and not what he ‘ hoped’ would happen.  She also looked at her life and created some wonderful inspiring goals for the future, whilst focusing on the here and now and what can bring her closer to her true happiness.
