Just when you think you have it all planned out and you have some kind of routine and certainty, life throws you a curve ball, and you obviously did not see it coming. Well that is what life just dished out to us this week, with only 3 weeks left of this year we have received our eviction notice in our current home. Firstly we were in a state of shock and disbelief how someone can do this to us, especially so close to Christmas, our daughters’ birthday and my pending birth. Obviously they have their reasons. Now a few days later we are in action mode, turning this dilemma into a positive, we need to in order to find the right home for us. Otherwise we stay in victim-mode and play the blame game; this does not serve any purpose. Life does this to people and in the state of flux we find more inner strength and resources and get ready for the new.
When you have moved home constantly all your life, this is just another move, that is my life and since being married (that is 6 years) we have moved 6 times, that is on average once a year. Now it becomes more of a challenge when there are children involved yet you just need to get set for the move and deal with issues as they arise.
Many people move around even with children, has long as you keep as much of the routine as possible they are ok, as long as they feel the parents are stable then they too feel grounded and stable. That is the key. In my opinion the home is where the family is, your values, traditions and the connection. So this week we all have been feeling out of sorts, and now I feel that we have come out the other end and ready for the new. Challenges are there to be overcome; a new home waits that has more to offer. Once in the new place I can continue to ‘nest’ for the new arrival, we are organised and so looking forward to being somewhere that feels like we belong.
After all it is just a state of mind, and feeling you have some sense of control, even thought this feeling doesn’t last long you can still enjoy it in the moment.
Let’s just hope we can stay longer than one year in the next place.
