Celebrating All Mums

This article is for all the mums out there who on most occasions put themselves last in the family hierarchy of needs. First comes the children or husband, then the duties that must be done during the day and then you take care of your own needs. Even if it means going without you do, as other people take priority. No wonder they call this the hardest job of all, but I know how rewarding it can all be. When you have 5 minutes to yourself to reflect that is! As mothers’ day is fast approaching think about what you really do and how the family copes because you do. Amazing isn’t it? This is the time to prioritize some ‘’me” time and celebrate being you.

We are geared to nurture and to allow others to shine, yet in today’s modern thinking this also refers to you and that you need to set the example for others to follow. If you make yourself shrink into the wallpaper and continue to put others first then how will your children learn that you need to be Numero Uno? They learn by example not by language and they are watching you. So no more excuses commit to changing something in your routine and imagine how wonderful you will feel.
So here are a few ideas to get you thinking about what you can do to celebrate being you:
1.       Book a massage try hot stone it is absolutely divine
2.       Go out to the movies with a girlfriend or alone
3.       Go out for retail therapy with a friend
4.       Connect with another mum for café and cake without the kids
5.       Take yourself for a solitary walk and breathe deeply as you do
6.       Make a hot date with your partner and get a babysitter
7.       Go to the hairdressers
8.       Spend time reading a book uninterrupted
9.       Take a long bath
10.   Take a mini-break a weekend away
So what will it be? I will have number 1, 3, 7 and 9 thanks and I am feeling so much better already. So schedule that appointment and get excited about getting some well deserved pampering. Lastly, remember not to feel guilty about taking time out, this is about you and how recharged you will feel, guilt does not come with this.
