Life is so precious; we take it for granted sometimes and live each week just like any other. We get into a routine and mentally cross out the calendar as each day goes by. For those who work for somebody else this is a real significance as you approach the end of the working week and count down until Friday afternoon.
We also take our health for granted, thinking it will always be there for us, and when we have a health challenge then we hit a brick wall and wonder ‘why me?’
Most of us fall into the victim mode and become reactive at what life throws us. This is like we are against the world in the boxing ring and we are loosing the battle. As our emotions run high and we cannot see clearly as we are in the bubble of our drama.
The power is in turning this around and owning your health issue, researching options, becoming the investigator and the observer in our situation. I have gone through this cycle and it is amazing the self- growth you get from coming out the other side. Because there is another side, oh yes you need to believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Changing your mind-set will aid you in turning this around and you becoming empowered in the process.
Things do happen, that is why life has its ups and downs, having a health challenge is just one of those downs, and the ups do come at some point.
- Believe you will get better and have your health back.
- Communicate with those around you and reach out to get support.
- Question your health professionals and seek out second opinions if you need to.
- Visualize yourself being the person you want to be, letting go of any negative emotions that fester.
- Also you need to do some forgiveness this will help you come to some kind of resolution, a place of inner peace.
- Remember this is about you and getting healthier in the process.
- Be grateful of what you currently have and enjoy those precious moments.
We all experience some kind of health challenges at some point, we can learn from it and gain a better insight of our own self, so take this opportunity to learn and grow.
I compare my journey to running a marathon; I remember telling my counselor that I was just pacing myself as the road was long. Now finally I can see that there are just a few more kilometers to go, and I am feeling so energized by the experience.
