As I was cleaning the bathroom I usually wipe the sink, tub followed by the toilet. The shower gets done when I am in there, one of my habits I guess. Yesterday what I noticed was the tiles surrounding the toilet, they were dirty and surprisingly I had not noticed this before. The thought occurred to me that I was just focusing on the usual areas and just going about it in an automatic kind of way. In life how often do we run this similar program? Just do as we always do and not change anything? When we are on the path of continual self-improvement we are forced to reassess and look outside our ‘usual areas’. Our environment changes and we begin to expand our awareness. That is what I got yesterday whilst cleaning, expanded awareness and glad I was able to see the difference and do something about it. Then we see new things in our consciousness we can improve our situation whatever that is. This applies to anything in life, career, relationships, self love, health, finances and so o...

As we grow and stretch ourselves we look for validation, so we know we are on the right track. This validation can come from other people who tell us that we are heading down the right path or perhaps intuitively we know that this is right as it feels so good. This is when we trust our own decision making and feelings. It can be a challenge when there is so much choice around. There are so many factors to consider and weighing up options. Take changing careers as an example. We want to pursue a different path, we know what we like and what we are good at, so we head down this road. Some people close to us will have an opinion (or we seek it as part of the decision making). This will give us encouragement or perhaps a reality check. Then you also have to consider your prospects and career growth. Too many choices may even paralyze you and once overwhelmed you do not make a decision, as this gets just ‘too hard’. This is when you just have to trust yourself and go with the flow, make a ...

This last month has really been different, it is the first time in my life that I have really felt this way, so much has changed. My role as a mother has given me this new-ness feeling and how natural it all feels, like I have done this for a while now. It has been just a few days shy of 4 weeks since our baby girl joined our family and the emotions are still running high. It is a privilege being her carer her teacher and her guide in life. When we grow we naturally give to others and this adds to our sense of self in such an unselfish way. We are serving others and we seek connection and contribution. I am sure many parents feel this way. You do not know how life changes until you have children. How true a statement. I had heard it so many times that I was waiting for the moment where I could say ‘yes that is when it happened’. For me it was right after birth. Our baby was real and here, and she needed protection, love, food and comfort. Children are a gift and we as parents are ther...

In order to live a fulfilling and happy life you need to be sure that you are focusing on the right things. As a Life Management & Success Coach I find that the cause of unhappiness and many of the challenges that people experience is influenced largely by where their focus lies. If you are not achieving what you want to experience in your life the following are areas that may require you to shift your focus. The Present – Focus on what you need to do in the present and what you want in the future rather than dwell on the past. If you are focusing on the past you are taking power away from the present and your future. Don’t stay stuck in the past. The main purpose of our past is to provide us with the learning that is necessary for our progress in life. Focusing on past hurts, mistakes, failures etc. can paralyse us and stop us from experiencing what we truly want in our lives. Let go of the past. Place all of your energy and focus on taking action now to create the future that ...

Life is filled with challenges for all of us. We need to accept that life will deal to us some challenges along the way. No-one is immune from them. They come in all different forms; financial, health, relationship, career, business, emotional, spiritual etc. Why should we embrace these challenges rather than fear them or view them in such a negative way? The answer to this question is critical for you to understand. We need challenges in our lives. They are sent to us for a beneficial purpose or reason. Challenges help to shape us to be the best that we can be and to force us to look at aspects of our life in a new way. They help us to grow on a personal level. They teach us lessons that enable us to progress forward in life and cause us to take necessary action to move us to where we need to be. Challenges importantly help us to learn a great deal about ourselves. The key thing to understand here is that tremendous learning, personal growth and opportunity can accompany challenge...

This story is inspired by one of my clients who has already accomplished so much in his 37 years and yet he does not see what his accomplishments are, instead he is focusing on what is still missing.. I guess we all tend to focus on that from time to time, what we want is still out there elusive and un-touchable. So after awhile this becomes demotivating and we get stuck in our predicament. All we want is to do better and putting this into practice becomes the real challenge. This is when we need to tackle each day as it comes one at a time. Set yourself some realistic mini-goals each day. Focus on the action and get on with living authentically. If you find yourself reflecting on the past this will not serve you going forward so make a conscious decision to minimize the mental tennis matches and be in the now.. Being better takes work, otherwise you just stay complacent and nothing will change. The world changes around you and you are left behind. Just imagine what your life would ...

Each day we hear on the news the crisis that planet Earth is facing… ozone depletion, climate change, pollution, lack of natural resources. I often like to look at the aspect that we as coaches learn early on in our studies, which is what we experience in our external world is only a reflection of what is internal for us: what we think, what we feel, what we choose and how we choose to experience our life. This recently led me to ponder… if what we experience outside of ourselves is a reflection of who and what we are internally, then could the state of the planet’s health at present, just be a reflection of how many of us in this human experience are living an unhealthy & polluted existence – ego driven, material driven and ‘me’ driven? We can only experience outside of ourselves what is inside of ourselves, and with the generation we have now, we are predominantly a generation of me, me, me/self, self, self. For a lot of us we are driven by ego and what we can have. It can oft...

Success is a very personal subject as everyone has different goals, aspirations and targets. Success is what keeps us happy at all times and should be lasting. I often wonder what success is and hear mostly that you are successful once you have a great career which earns you lots of money. However, I don't believe that is necessarily success. Most of you would agree that money doesn't always make us happy, hence it is not 'success' for all of us. Let's look at some of the things I have achieved in my life so far: I started a new life by moving from the Netherlands to Australia with two suitcases in my hand and the rest of my 'life' on a ship on its way to Sydney. It was all very daunting and scary but exciting and fun at the same time. A whole new city and country to explore and to love. Now, 13 years later, I have a wonderful family, a very close circle of friends and my own business! To me, that is success!! A few years ago I discovered I have Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia ('CML'). Th...

What if there was more to life than just existing? What if there was a bigger plan? What if when we were souls, awaiting our birth into the human experience, we formed a plan? What if we decided that in order for our souls to grow, evolve and learn, we needed to explore and participate in certain experiences during our human existence? What if, in order to experience this growth, evolution and learning we deliberately chose those who would journey with us and assist us in accomplishing our task? What if we imagined our life here to be like a theatre production? What if we all had our specific roles, our specific wardrobe, our specific dialogue within this story that, when delivered as it should be, ended in a grand finale? What if all the people in your life, friend or foe, were in fact just playing their role in your own growth, evolution and learning process? What if they were part of your life for a reason, and whether your experience with them was positive or negative, what ...

You would have noticed that we are running behind this month with our articles and newsletter. Well this had a good reason. My wonderful wife and Principal Coach at Click A Life Coach, has given birth to our first child, a beautiful baby girl called Alexa Luz. This has been a truly amazing experience for both of us and we are still filled with many happy emotions. Just looking at her face makes me almost cry with happiness. We prepared ourselves well for the birth and we wanted to have a birth without much intervention, no pain relief, just a natural calm birth. Alexa was due on the 19th of December, but decided to wait a little longer with her arrival. With Christmas around the corner, we thought we might actually get a “Christkind” with her being born on the 24th . In the lead up to Christmas we decided to buy a turkey just in case, she would wait until after Christmas. And glad we did. We spend a nice Christmas day with family at our place and enjoyed every moment (and every sleep ...
